CSM HALL OF FAME TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPT. 9
New Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame selection Hal Ramey of KCBS will serve as Master of Ceremonies for College of San Mateo’s first Athletic Hall of Fame enshrinement dinner on Friday, Sept. 23.
Reservations for the 6 p.m. dinner at the new CSM College Center are still available for $70 (or $500 for a table of eight) through Sept. 9. All attendees will also receive a ticket for the Saturday, Sept. 24, Hall of Fame football game against West Valley College at College Heights Stadium at 1 p.m. Inductees will be honored and introduced at halftime of the football game.

The public is invited to attend the 4 p.m. ribbon cutting for CSM’s Hall of Fame Plaza, located above the campus gymnasium. That will be followed by a no-host cocktail hour at the College Center, preceding the 6 p.m. dinner.
2011 Inductees:
Archie Williams, the 1936 Olympic gold medalist at 400 meters and teammate of the legendary Jesse Owens is one three track and field inductees for CSM first Hall of Fame class.
The others are 1996 Olympic javelin thrower Nicole Carroll-Lewis and long-time successful track coach Bob Rush.
The other Hall of Fame coaches are Jack Avina (men’s basketball), Ray Balsley (men’s basketball and golf), John Noce (baseball),
Former CSM softball star Jeremy Freeman will be inducted along with her coach, Tom Martinez.
Martinez is the winningest coach in California JC history, also holding impressive records in women’s basketball and football.
The lineup of football inductees is impressive. In addition to Martinez, it includes four former players who hold a dozen Super Bowl rings: Bill Walsh, John Madden, Bill Ring, and Neal Dahlen (who alone has a record seven rings).
In addition to Martinez, the former football coaches being inducted are Murius McFadden, Herb Hudson, Bill Dickey, and Ted Tollner.
