College of San Mateo Nursing Program Celebrates 50 Years
San Mateo, California—On Tuesday, June 2, 2015, College of San Mateo’s Nursing Program celebrates its 50th graduating class with two special events. The festivities begin with an Open House, hosted by the Nursing Program, from 1:30-4:30 pm in CSM’s Health and Wellness Building. In the evening, beginning at 6:15 pm, a nursing pinning ceremony honoring the 50th graduating class will be held at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.
About the Program
CSM’s first Nursing Program class graduated in May 1965 with 18 graduates–all women. In May 2015, 47 students will graduate from the program, 7 men and 37 women. A majority of this year’s graduates have a variety of health care worker experience and many hold other degrees. Over the past 50 years, a total of 2,158 students have graduated from CSM’s Nursing Program.
Open House Celebration
The Nursing Program’s Open House welcomes nursing alumni, current nursing students, former and current nursing faculty and staff and members of the community. The event includes tours of the nursing skills lab led by CSM nursing students, a historical photo display of the program through the years, networking opportunities and an opportunity for alumni to reconnect.
